本研究旨在研究在高峰后阶段日粮中添加Bindi(Tribulus terrestris L.)、Carob(Ceratonia siliqua L.)和Ginger(Zingiber officinale Roscoe)对育种公鸡冷却精子繁殖参数的影响。

The current study was designed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with Bindii (Tribulus terrestris L.), Carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.), and Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) on reproduction parameters of cooled sperm of breeding roosters during the post-peak phase. For this purpose, 20 roosters were assigned to four equal groups and fed the following diets for 60 days: the control group (basal diet with no herbal plant supplementation), the other groups received Bindii (1.5 g/kg diet), Carob (15 g/kg diet), and Ginger (10 g/kg diet) powders as feed additives. On the 60th day, semen samples were collected via abdominal massage twice a week and diluted. Diluted semen samples were cooled to 5°C and stored for 48 h. Sperm motility, viability, membrane integrity, lipid peroxidation, and mitochondrial activity were evaluated in 0-h diluted pooled semen before cooled storage and after 24 and 48 h of storage at 5°C. Fertility and hatchability were evaluated using 0-h diluted pooled semen and semen stored at 5°C for 24 h. Results showed that feeding all herbal plants resulted in higher sperm total motility, progressive motility, viability, and membrane integrity than the control group in 0-h diluted pooled semen and after 24 h of storage (P < 0.05). However, sperm mitochondrial activity was improved by all herbal supplementation only at 24 h of storage. While groups fed herbs showed lower lipid peroxidation than those fed only the basal diet at 24 and 48 h of storage, the total antioxidant capacity was improved in 0-h diluted pooled semen and after 24 and 48 h of storage (P < 0.05). Fertility rates during artificial insemination using sperm cells cooled for 24 h were significantly higher for roosters fed all herbs than those receiving a diet without herbal plants (P < 0.05). In conclusion, the application of Bindii, Carob, and Ginger as herbal additives in a rooster diet could be an effective method to improve rooster sperm quality and fertility potential of cooled sperm.
